Big Boy Bed! 217/365

In : Uncategorized, Posted by on Aug.08, 2009

After a nightmare nap time (climbing out of crib) I decided to set up Jeremy’s Big Boy Bed!  Fun times!  He stayed in it tonight & went straight to sleep…but I will say that it was 9:15 when he went to bed and that probably has something to do with it!  We shall see what tomorrow brings!

Magic Squares! 216/365

In : Uncategorized, Posted by on Aug.08, 2009

You are certainly getting a more than you asked for this week.  3 recipes in one!

Magic Squares: (as I prepared them)

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1 can Eagle Brand milk

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup skor chips

1 cup peanuts

1 cup sliced almonds

Heat oven to 350F.  Coat 13×9 baking dish (I lined it with parchment paper)

Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter.  Press into bottom of prepared pan.  Pour Eagle Brand evenly over crumb mixture.  Mix remaining ingredients together in a separate bowl and spread evenly on top.

Bake 25 minutes or until lightly brown.  Cool.  Cut and serve at room temp.

This is a link to the recipe I started with.

Eagle Brand is really the magic ingredient.  Its a pretty powerful statement to have written on the can, but it’s so true!
I have a recipe (thanks to Alice) to make your own.  I have not yet tried it here it goes:

1 cup dry skim milk powder

2/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup boiling water

3 tbsps butter melted

Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth.  Use immediately or refrigerate.

memories….212/365

I have great memories of camping from when I was growing up!

Everything from the typical campfires (which my dad still has on any given day at his house) to something unique like biking around with a wagon to pick up firewood on rainy days.  There was always a bench full of goodies and plenty of beach time!  It was tonnes of fun; we met alot of fun people that we would chum with year after year.

One thing we did with out fail was tell Dad that the bikes fell off the back of the camper…I’m not sure how this all started but EVERY camping trip we would YELL “DAD, THE BIKES FELL OFF-THEY ARE ON THE HIGHWAY”…and we’d all break out laughing…

The fun stuff…family memories!
