Happy ‘early’ Birthday…331/365
In : Uncategorized, Posted by dawn on Nov.11, 2009
Eric and a couple of his cousins had a birthday party together…so cute! Eric didn’t want to have a party because it isn’t his birthday yet!
He sure changed his mind when the presents showed up!

5 days later..and its still bad…I guess that’s what happens when you bonk heads with your cousin and then the next day you open a gate, as you walk through it bounces back and hits you square in the head!

Christmas Baking! 327/365

My sister and I get together one day late November/early Dec for baking. We’ve been doing this for 3 years now and it is a fun day that is very productive!
Here are a couple of the items on the agenda for the day:

Top left (feature item): Cake Balls
Top right: Peppermint Kiss cookies
Bottom left: Candy Cane bark
Bottom right: Magic squares
Cake Balls: Cook and cool a cake. Fork it into small crumbs. Add one can (or just less than) of icing. Form into balls. Freeze single file on a wax lined cookie sheet. Remove from freezer and dip into chocolate (melted wafers). We found that melting the wafers in the microwave in a dish (not plastic) worked the best. These are not difficult, but they are time consuming. Kids & Adults LOVE them…so sweet and addictive! There are so many ways you can prepare them too!

Peppermint kiss Cookies: For these we used a favorite cookie dough recipe. Omit the chocolate chips. Baked in a mini muffin pan for about 10mins. Then added the kisses to the top returned to oven for 2 mins. Remember these times are approx since every oven is different.
Candy Cane Bark: For this YUMMY snack you melt chocolate, we used white squares and chocolate chips (separately). Pour the melted chocolate in rows (every other white/brown/white/brown) and then marble it (Lisa used a fork to criss cross the rows). While it is still warm you sprinkle with broken candy cane pieces.
Magic Squares: I’ve used this recipe before (click here) but this time we used an additional can of sweetened condensed milk over the top, it worked out GREAT!
If you have any questions about these recipes please let me know!
Enjoy!
My new love…326/365
In : Uncategorized, Posted by dawn on Nov.11, 2009
It’s terrible to love ‘things’ but this is really my new best friend. I am very happy with my phone for several reasons:
1. I can now talk to my husband whenever I need (want) to (if he answers)
2. It’s so cute with my new skin on it!
3. To date, we’re very happy with Virgin Mobile, prices, plans and service. I was a bit nervous since we’ve never used them before (haven’t really had a need for personal cells in the past)
4. It’s nice to have a number clients can contact you at if they need something while I’m out on the road!
5. Love the full qwerty keyboard!

pictures capture a moment in time…324/365

Since pictures capture still life, its easy for us to manipulate the pictures into the telling the story we want to hear.
Take this picture for example:

At a quick glance someone might think that Farmopoly is Joleen’s favorite game (which it is), one might think that she actually owns alot of properties (the key to winning)…but the truth is…she quickly moved to my seat (the winners chair) when I was going to take the picture!
(I’m just teasing you Jo! Next time we’ll have to play dutch blitz!)
cupcakes! 323/365

Eric loves to bake…these cupcakes (from the Aylmer Grandma) were a huge hit because they have sprinkles in them! I let him do the icing on them all, and top them with sprinkles! It was a huge hit!

everyone’s tired! 322/365

My boys aren’t often tired enough to fall asleep during a meal! JJ must have been exhausted! He was eating..I got up to wash some dishes, looked back and he was OUT! I can only remember one other time this happened at our house…it was Eric at the cottage last year…and he almost landed in his food!
